Who Are NFF?
Newton & Frost Fencing Ltd (NFF) was founded in the heart of Sussex by two relatives, Ian Frost and his stepfather Lez Newton. Born and raised in Punnets Town, Ian and Lez held strong ties to the local community. From a young age Ian would help Lez, during school holidays, installing fencing and learning the trade. At the age of 18 Ian entered his first full time profession. After three short years it was quickly decided that it was not for him.
In 1976 Ian went back to work with Lez, installing fencing full-time. Ian and Lez earned a reputation for craftmanship and reliability, honouring deals made with local farmers. As a result, word spread and so did their customer base. In 1979 Newton & Frost Fencing was founded, cementing Ian and Lez’s partnership.
NFF started taking on larger projects, with some taking years to complete. The demand outgrew their resources requiring NFF to expand. As demand increased NFF saw the opportunity to diversify beyond agricultural work, entering the market of transport infrastructure.
In 1983 NFF were awarded their first formal contract – the Uckfield Bypass. By completing this venture NFF had proven their capability to handle complex infrastructure projects. This was a turning point, NFF managed to secure a strong footing in an industry that required quality workmanship on a potentially large scale. Seizing the opportunity, NFF expanded their reach and team to provide fencing solutions for the whole of the South-East.
By 1991 NFF employed over 30 personnel securing major road infrastructure contracts, including the entire fencing packages for the A23 and A13 roads developments. This expansion grew Northernly, with projects being completed as high as Leeds. NFF quickly became recognised by some of the largest infrastructure companies in the UK.
By 2009, NFF were well established within the fencing industry, moving away from the local work which ignited the now growing business. To ensure their local ties were not lost NFF opened a fencing trade and retail department, supplying local businesses and families with high-quality affordable materials. This department was headed by Barry Newton. This department grew, not only re-solidifying NFF’s place in the local community, but opening doors to new opportunities. Combining the company’s knowledge of construction and newly obtained resources NFF launched a timber buildings manufacturing department in 2013.
Today, NFF has become one of the largest fencing contractors in the Southeast of England, employing over 55 full-time staff. With a legacy of dedication and quality, NFF continues set the standards within their fields, whilst giving back to the community when possible. From small garden projects to major infrastructure contracts, NFF stands as a testament to the vision, hard work, and commitment to quality shared by its founders.
